AI Statement
AI statement for UiASJ
Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies (“AI tools”) have lately been included in research and scholarly publishing, offering benefits for writers while requiring standards for responsible and transparent use. Authors writing an article for UiASJ are allowed to use AI tools. However, these tools must never be used as a substitute for critical thinking, skill, and evaluation.
For authors
You must not present AI-generated text, code, analyses, images, or other content as your own work. Failure to provide information, or providing misleading information, regarding the use of AI, or using AI in a manner that does not comply with the guidelines of this journal may be regarded as plagiarism, and lead to a rejection of your article.
You must also avoid sharing sensitive data or personal information. Authors must check the terms and conditions of any AI tool that they use to guarantee that the privacy and confidentiality of their data is maintained. Care should be taken with any personally identifiable data. Authors should check for factual errors and for any potential bias.
Authors must also ensure that their use of AI tool does not impose constraints on the use of outputs from the AI tool in a way that could restrict the subsequent publication of the relevant article.
Disclosure
When you submit your article, you must state which AI tools you have used and for what purposes. You should do this by providing a statement.
It is important that you disclose all use of AI in your statement, including when you use AI in connection with text you have written yourself, or other forms of work you submit that you have primarily produced yourself (videos, podcasts, programming, etc.).
Please note: Basic checks of grammar, spelling and punctuation do not need a statement. However, when an AI tool makes substantive changes to sentence structure or organisation of a part of the text, this should be disclosed.
